Your Edmonton Public school board of Trustees officially declared June 3-7 as Pride week in our schools during yesterday’s board meeting.
I am proud of our board’s commitment to support our sexual and gender minority students, staff and families through our policies, regulations and celebrations like those that will happen in early June.
Look for updates from schools and school principals on ways they will be celebrating Pride.
The idea for declaring a pride week at EPSB came from the news that there will be no Pride Festival or Parade in the city this year. We saw this as a new opportunity to do our own celebration and also a chance to start a new tradition at Edmonton Public Schools.
